How does the design that you created demonstrate your knowledge of playing card design?
The designs demonstrate my knowledge of playing card design since I used symmetry in each of the card designs. Symmetry is a common theme in all of the Bicycle playing card designs and it is constant in my designs as well.
How would the rest of the deck look? What would you do for the other picture cards? Please describe in detail?
The rest of the deck will have the same color scheme of the navy and gold accents. The other picture cards would be other images that represent other zodiac signs such as a scorpion for scorpio or the lamb for aries. The rest of the number cards will be other zodiac signs that represent other zodiac in place of traditional symbols.
How does your design demonstrate your knowledge of adobe illustrator?
My design demonstrates my knowledge of illustrator because I used numerous tools in order to make each of my cards. For all of my cards, I used the shape tool, the compound path tool, clipping masks, and image trace tool. In addition, I also used the paint bucket tool, type on a path and the line segment tool in order to make the card designs.
What do you feel was the most challenging part of this project and why?
The most challenging part of this project was to come up with a creative and original design that fit the corporate identity of Bicycle and represented the theme. This was the most difficult part because coming up with a intricate design that incorporates the common themes in real Bicycle cards took a lot of thought.
If you can change one requirements what would it be and why?
I would change the requirement that makes using the Bicycle logo mandatory because on the real card tops the logo is not included and it limited some design ideas that did not incorporate the logo or brand name.
